Window treatments can be confusing especially with so much information available on the internet to read. You must check your sources to sort through the myths.
If you have never owned a home or never purchased window coverings before from a custom window covering company, you may not know the difference between 2” faux wood blinds and California shutters or zebra blinds verse sheer shades or honeycomb shades and pleated shades. Some people think these window treatments are all the same however they are very different regarding price, light control, energy efficiency, design, warranty, operational style, etc. Not too mention material, quality, finish and structure.
Every window blind purchaser should start with a list of what you are looking for in their new product and be sure the recommended product checks off this list. There is nothing worse than investing in a shade to darken your room and ending up with something that still lets the light in. Or when looking for privacy having a product that when it is dark outside and the lights are on, people can see in.
Here are a few common misconceived notions about window treatments.
1: All blinds need to be flush with window trim.
This is not true. Some blinds are best installed on the inside of the window trim and some blinds are best on the outside of the window trim. There are benefits to both which can be reviewed during a complimentary in-home consultation with Milton Blinds.
2: Roman shades need to be lined.
If you are looking for room darkening roman shades, you do not necessarily need to add another layer of fabric to the roman blinds, but you can pick a fabric that comes with a liner already on the back. If you pick a light filtering roman blind fabric you do not need a liner on the back either. All fabric options are brought to an in-home consultation for review under your lighting and with your décor.
3: Motorization is very expensive.
Automation has come a long way over the past decade and become more affordable to the average customer. Motorized blinds are low maintenance with rechargeable options and wireless controls.
At Milton Blinds, we can customize any window blind, shade covering or shutter treatment to your liking. All window coverings are made to order and tailored with matching valances, fabric wrapped bottom rail options, colour-coordinated cord, wand, string, beaded chain controls, and lengths.
